Commercial Electrical Installation
What we install — and how we work
NorthGrid Electrical Ltd handles the full scope of commercial electrical installation — from a single new circuit or distribution board upgrade through to complete rewires, large-scale commercial fit-outs and ongoing FM support contracts. Every job is carried out by Matt Foster or an engineer under his direct supervision, never subcontracted.
Our approach is built around compliance first. Every installation is designed and executed to BS 7671 / 18th Edition standards, with full certification on completion — an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for new work or a Minor Works Certificate where applicable. We work with facilities managers, housing associations, retail operators and commercial property owners who need documentation that passes scrutiny first time.
We understand that downtime costs money. Whether you're a facilities manager juggling a busy estate or a retail operator who cannot close during trading hours, we plan our works around your schedule — including out-of-hours, evenings and weekends where required. Matt has specialist experience in live-environment electrical installation, with risk assessments and RAMS supplied as standard for complex or occupied sites.
Same-day quotes are available for most straightforward works. For larger projects, we carry out a site survey and provide a fully itemised fixed-price quote in writing — no day-rate billing, no variation surprises.

Live-Environment Works
Electrical installation in occupied premises — it's what we're known for
Most electricians will tell you a site needs to be vacated before electrical work can begin. NorthGrid takes a different approach. Matt Foster has spent 15+ years developing the planning, isolation and sequencing skills needed to carry out electrical installation work in occupied, trading and safety-critical environments — without shutting the site down.
We've worked in live retail units, operational offices, aviation facilities and high-security sites where downtime is not an option. Every live-environment project is preceded by a full risk assessment and an Isolation Plan, and we supply a complete RAMS package as standard.
Whether you need a distribution board upgrade completed overnight, new circuits installed across a retail fit-out that's trading the next morning, or phased works on an occupied industrial unit — we structure the job around your operational requirements.
How NorthGrid minimises your downtime
- Phased works planned around your operating hours
- Out-of-hours and weekend working available
- Isolation planning and sequenced switching
- Aviation-cleared and retail site experience
- High-security site vetting and DBS where required
- Full RAMS documentation supplied as standard
