NorthGrid Electrical was founded by Matt Foster with a single purpose: to deliver compliance-led electrical inspection, testing and remedial works to the clients who need it done right. The Founder

Matt Foster started NorthGrid Electrical after more than 15 years working across the electrical industry — from domestic and commercial installations through to complex industrial, three-phase and aviation-sector works. He's the kind of electrician who genuinely reads the standards, understands why they exist, and builds that into every report and certificate he issues.
After spending years working within larger organisations and seeing first-hand how compliance can become a tick-box exercise, Matt set up NorthGrid Electrical to do things differently: smaller, more focused, and uncompromisingly thorough. Based in Bamber Bridge, Preston, NorthGrid now serves FM companies, housing associations, aviation clients and commercial property owners across the North West and beyond.
All work is carried out by Matt personally, or by engineers he directly supervises. NorthGrid does not subcontract. When you engage NorthGrid, you know exactly who is attending site and what their standard of work is.

Built to serve the clients that compliance lets down
The compliance sector has a problem that most people in it won't admit to. Too many electrical contractors treat EICRs and periodic inspection as a revenue stream rather than a specialism. Reports get issued quickly, corners get cut, defects get missed or misclassified, and the documentation that lands on a housing association's desk or an FM manager's portal doesn't hold up when it's scrutinised.
FM companies end up chasing re-inspections. Housing associations carry liability they don't know they have. Property managers find themselves explaining why a report passed three months ago and now needs remedial works the contractor should have caught the first time.

NorthGrid Electrical was deliberately built to serve the FM and commercial space — the organisations with planned maintenance schedules, multi-site contracts, RAMS requirements and real consequences when the paperwork isn't right. That shaped everything: the approach to reporting, the detail in certification, the willingness to work to FM timescales, and the discipline that comes from years working in regulated, high-consequence environments including aviation.
It's also why NorthGrid doesn't subcontract. Consistency of standard is everything when compliance is the product. When you work with NorthGrid, you work with Matt — or with an engineer Matt is directly responsible for.
